Of these, 13 kilometers on a section of km 160 - km 196 in the Gagarinsky district of the Smolensk region - overhaul. On this segment, the route was brought to level 1B of the technical category: the roadway was completely replaced with a new one with a long service life, the lanes were expanded to standard 3.75 meters. Now on this segment there are also separate lanes ("pockets") for turning, which increases the level of road safety, as it allows you to free the direct high-speed lane.
45.6 kilometers were repaired in the Moscow region and almost 40 kilometers in the Smolensk region. In total, 85.6 kilometers of the M-1 road are brought into normative state. In addition, six transport interchanges and a 170-meter bridge over the Vop river near Yartsevo in the Smolensk region were repaired.
The bridge, by the way, is historical - it was built in the late 30s and became one of the 115 artificial structures, the construction of which was provided for by the first draft of the route from 1935. During the Great Patriotic War, the bridge was destroyed by the Nazis. In 1947, the road builders built a new bridge over Vop, as there is already a historical record in the act of the Government Commission on the commissioning of the Moscow-Minsk motorway. The certificate is currently stored in the museum of the M-1 road in the Golitsyn branch of the State Company. In 2002, the bridge underwent a comprehensive overhaul: it was almost completely dismantled, and a new bridge made of modern materials was built on this site.
