State Company Avtodor and the government of the Republic of Bashkortostan agreed on joint work to build high-speed road Bavly – Kumertau which is to become a part of the international transport route Europe – western China.
The Bavly – Kumertau highway is a four-lane first-category 265-kilometer long road with rated velocity of 150 km/h. According to the agreement, the highway will be included into the general-use road network of federal importance. The construction of the highway shall be financed by public-private partnership and the new road will be operated on a toll basis.
The construction of the Bavly – Kumertau road will play a major role in the development of road communications at all levels – international, inter-regional, regional, and local. In particular, it will promote inter-regional passenger and cargo traffic between Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Samara, and Orenburg regions. Together with federal highways M-5 Ural and Ufa – Orenburg the new road will become the backbone of the regional road network as it will connect in the shortest way the radial (tending to Ufa) roads in the districts of the republic which it will cross.
Besides, infrastructure development along the Bavly – Kumertau highway (including encouragements to develop terminal warehouses and republican transportation companies) will promote the employment of the local population. The emergence of the new road in southwestern Bashkortostan will also raise investment attractiveness of the territories located close to the road and, as a result, will improve operations and maintenance of municipal and local roads.
