If weather conditions worsened during the trip, please take all possible measures to diminish the risk of collision.
If it started to rain, increase the distance to the vehicle in front of you and decrease your speed. Even if you drive on a road you know well, a speed decrease of 10 km/h will provide more response time. Please remember that on a wet road, braking path is 1.5 to 2 times longer compared to the dry one. A moment of the beginning of rain is especially dangerous, when the road becomes very slippery as dust and fine dirt soak. Keep to the right, do not attempt to overpass or change the lines. Remember about hydroplaning effect.
Weather services warn about mist beforehand. Digital displays on state company roads provide information about weather conditions. If mist still caught you unawares, always make yourself visible on the road by turning on the parking lights and fog lamps or passing beams. Do not use highbeams. Bright light may blind you. Drop down the speed to the minimal and keep to the right. Do not attempt to overpass and keep the distance long. Your speed shall total half of your visible distance. If visibility is 100 meters, drive at a speed of maximum 50 km/h.
Regularly check your wind-screen wipers, ventilation system and vehicle lamps for proper operation. These systems are essential under unfavorable weather conditions. Please be careful and attentive. It can save the lives of other people and it can save your life, too.
