Reconstruction of 21 Kilometers of M-1 Belarus Highway in Moscow Region to Be Completed by the End of the Year

Construction and installation works, started on the 45-66th km section of M-1 Belarus highway in 2019, proceed according to schedule. Road workers are planning to complete the reconstruction at the end of 2021, and launch the traffic along this section of the highway on a permanent basis.

Vyacheslav Petushenko, the Chairman of the Board of Russian Highways State Company, has inspected the progress of reconstruction works and held a meeting with contractors.

There are 9 overpasses on this section, including two railway overpasses with three arch-type superstructures. Bridge workers have already replaced two outdated superstructures. Two new arches were installed this spring. Installation of the third arch is scheduled for the 4th quarter. The arches have a span that accommodates six-lane traffic on the M-1 alignment.

The works on three overpasses are underway: at the 63rd km as part of construction of a transport interchange, at the 64th km to eliminate intersection with the Kubinka–Narofominsk regional road at the same level.

The works on laying the asphalt-concrete pavement on the reconstructed section of the main route have been implemented almost in full. Within the framework of the project, a toll collection point for 27 chambers is envisaged at the 46th km.

During the implementation of the facility, 9 pedestrian crossings are being built; noise fencings and lighting towers are also being installed. Among other matters, this will help improve road safety and increase the crossing capacity of M-1 in Moscow Region.
