Travel time from Moscow to Yekaterinburg by the M-12 highway will amount to 17.5 hours

The car users who choose the M-12 highway to travel from Moscow to Yekaterinburg will save 17 hours. Now, the journey from the capital to the center of the Urals takes 35 hours.

The advantages the Sverdlovsk region will get from traffic launch along the new route have been discussed today at an extended meeting of the Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Regional Association "Deputy Vertical". It was attended by the Chairman of the Board of the Avtodor State Company Vyacheslav Petushenko, the Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuyvashev, and the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov.

As a part of the new route from Kazan to Yekaterinburg, it is planned to make full repair of 72 km of the R-242 road from Achit to Yekaterinburg, which is called the Perm tract. This section will be toll-free. However, the 274 km long section of new construction Dyurtyuli - Achit will be a toll section, as well as 810 km of the M-12 highway from Moscow to Kazan. Vyacheslav Petushenko explained that it is planned to attract funds from the National Welfare Fund (NWF) for construction on a repayable basis.

In turn, Yevgeny Kuyvashev noted that the road infrastructure, as well as ramps and exits to/from the high-speed federal highway Moscow - Kazan - Yekaterinburg on the territory of Sverdlovsk region should be built as comfortable as possible for people.

Pavel Krashennikov added that such routes are the blood vessels of the organism called the Russian Federation. They enable it to develop and work better. The matter is not only about the traffic flow, but also about the infrastructure accompanying the road. We need gas stations, hotels, and interchanges. Our citizens will have more freedom to move around. And this is one of the basic constitutional rights.
