Dyurtyuli — Achit road section in Perm Krai almost one third complete

From the first days of 2024, round-the-clock works on the rearrangement of utilities and the arrangement of the earth bed and embankment have continued on the 92 km section passing through the territory of Perm Krai. Construction workers have performed 85% of the total excavation and completed about 56% of the embankment. Construction of the base layer from crushed stone-sand mixture carries on — the work has already been completed through 26 km. Measures are taken to plan and strengthen slopes and install culverts.

The construction stage is complicated by the fact that more than 2/3 of the site in Perm Krai runs through karst terrain. An efficient method of sinkhole protection is a special monitoring and notification system. Owing to it, the condition of karst rocks will be monitored in real time.

Besides, the bridge workers are erecting 31 road structures, including 7 bridges, one across the Malaya Sarana River. The height of its channel supports is comparable to a 8-story building — over 24 meters high. Superstructures are completed on 8 sites, including 3 bridges. This section will have two interchanges to link with the existing local road network. One is at the intersection with the Shchuchye Lake – Yavgildino road, the second, with the Goldyri – Orda – Oktyabrsky road.

For the convenience of motorists, two mirrored multifunctional road service zones will be arranged. It is also planned to build 10 eco-crossings of the tunnel type. As with other similar structures to be found all across the Russian Highways road network, their location is chosen taking into account the migration routes of wild animals.

This is one of three stages of grand-scale construction of the 275 km long Dyurtyuli — Achit highway. Two more sections run across the Republic of Bashkortostan and Sverdlovsk Region. The Dyurtyuli — Achit Highway will become an extension of the M-12 Vostok Highway to Yekaterinburg.
The Moscow to Kazan section of M-12 Vostok was opened for traffic in December 2023. The road was built as part of the national project “Upgrading Transport Infrastructure”. The entire M-12 Highway, from the town of Dyurtyuli to the village of Achit, is scheduled to open for traffic by late 2024.
