For May holiday trips, motorists chose M-12 "Vostok", M-11 "Neva" and M-4 "Don"

Interest in motor tourism in the country is growing every year, especially during the vacation season, weekends and holidays. As a rule, during such periods motorists prefer high-speed highways. The greatest intensity of traffic is observed on the eve of holidays, when people go on trips and to summer cottages, as well as at the end of the weekend.
For example, when traveling during the past May holidays motorists chose among other roads M-12 "Vostok", M-11 "Neva" and M-4 "Don". In particular, in the period from April 30 to May 11, drivers made an average of about 95 thousand trips on various routes on the highway M-12 "Vostok" from Moscow to Kazan. The record number of trips - 123 thousand - was recorded on May 11.  If we talk about individual sections, the maximum intensity of traffic was recorded on May 8 on the bypass of Balashikha in the Moscow region. On this day motorists made more than 63 thousand passes along this section.
On the high-speed sections of M-12 "Vostok" beyond Kazan on average about 9 thousand vehicle passages per day were recorded.  The maximum figures were observed closer to the cities of Kazan and Yekaterinburg: on average, about 13 thousand passages per day were made on these sections.
Traditionally, the roads in the southern direction - M-4 "Don" and A-289 - are in demand on May holidays. On M-4 "Don" the peak of traffic intensity was observed on the section in the Moscow region - more than 56 thousand passages per day. The maximum was recorded on May 11 - on that day drivers traveled along the Moscow Region section of M-4 "Don" more than 71 thousand times. High rates were also observed in Rostov region, 48.7 thousand passes were recorded here on April 30.
During the May holidays, motorists made an average of about 17,000 trips per day along various routes on the A-289 Krasnodar - Kerch federal highway The peak value was recorded on April 30 - about 21 thousand trips.
On the highway M-11 "Neva" from April 30 to May 11, motorists made an average of about 57 thousand trips per day on various routes, of which 11% were transit trips along the entire road from Moscow to St. Petersburg. The maximum was reached on May 11, when this figure rose to 81 thousand trips per day. If we talk about the peak values on individual sections, high figures were recorded on May 11 on the Solnechnogorsk and Klin bypass in the Moscow region - about 40 thousand trips per day, as well as near St. Petersburg - about 38 thousand trips.
As for the Moscow Region, the peak load on the Central Ring Road (CRR) occurred on April 30: more than 153 thousand trips on various routes. The section of the Central Ring Road from M-4 to Kaluga highway was the most intensive - more than 39 thousand trips. The section near the intersection with the Dmitrovskoye Highway, where traffic was launched on a new interchange late last year, was also popular with drivers. Traffic intensity on this section exceeded 23,000 trips on April 30 and May 8.
